Fig Leaf worked closely with the Foundation's in-house Web developer to enhance the existing Web site design and toolset. Like many of Fig Leaf's redesign clients, the Cancer Prevention and Research Foundation had many of the components of a successful Web site; the most important being valuable information.
The Foundation had worked with a usability expert to conduct detailed user surveys and studies into the good and bad aspects of the site. When Fig Leaf first met with staff from CRFA, they discovered that the primary audience reacted positively to the warm and friendly feel of the site, but most felt the graphics lacked sophistication. Fig Leaf's designers worked to fine tune the selections of stock photography, modernize the color palette, and create several navigation schemes to cater to their different user groups.
The new designs focus on efficiently presenting the information in the site to new visitors and potential donors. Fig Leaf created a unique “reduce your risk” application that appears on each page to help visitors find specific information within the site relevant to their individual concerns. Fig Leaf suggested the Foundation use the CommonSpot content management system to give non-technical staff the ability to easily update the site content. Fig Leaf’s designers created a series of master templates for implementation on a hosted version of the CommonSpot Content Server.
