Discovery Channel - Travel Channel Shark Week site

Discovery Shark Week screen capture

The Discovery Channel hired Fig Leaf Software to create an online experience to coincide with the launch of their Shark Week television program.  The goal of the Web site is to promote upcoming Discovery scuba and snorkel expeditions with sharks and whales.

Fig Leaf created a rich visitor experience for the Shark Week expeditions but using imagery and colors supportive of the aquatic theme of the travel site.  Fig Leaf worked with the Discovery team to select images of whales, dolphins, sharks and landscapes that would be inviting and encourage visitors to sign up for a trip.  The images chosen balance excitement and safety for the potential travelers so each page features multiple images.  Some of the images feature calming scenes of divers with gentle, colorful fish while other photos evoke a feeling of discomfort (such as the picture of a diver in a steel cage with a Great White Shark just outside).

The Shark Week site created by Fig Leaf for the Discovery Channel and Travel Channel, delivered on-time and on-budget, launched with the start of the televised Shark Week.  The online forms created by Fig Leaf enabled visitors to gather information about various trips (including trips with humpback, orca and blue whales, spotted dolphins, or blue or great white sharks).  Additionally, visitors could make reservations for an expedition by indicating which trip they were interested in, their preferred method by which to be contacted, number of travelers and any special requests.
