The Epilepsy Foundation hired Fig Leaf Software to create an integrated system to give their personnel the ability to design curriculum for their subscribers to take online. This system was to also allow an administrator to have full access over all administrative duties of the application from the management of eLearning media and resources, to the authorship of curriculum and exams, to the production of learner usage reports.

Fig Leaf Software designed the architecture for the "Be Seizure Smart" web application, and built the solution utilizing the latest rich media web-delivery technology offered by the recent release of Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Professional. The core of this web application was built using Macromedia ColdFusion MX, specifically in the deployment of Flash Remoting architecture supported by ColdFusion components (.CFCs), and utilizing Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as its backbone database management system. Although this application was designed as a stand-alone item, "Be Seizure Smart" is flexible enough to have been integrated into the EFA's installation of CommonSpot, by PaperThin.

The system designed and developed by Fig Leaf's team allows subscribers to register to participate in Be Seizure Smart curriculum, take elected curriculum online, and print out certificates of participation upon completion.  The system will launch in the Fall/Winter of 2004.

Fig Leaf developed the system architecture so that it is portable and reusable for any organization needing to design, maintain, and deliver media-rich, eLearning solutions.
