Fig Leaf reviewed the gallery's Web site and found that the NGA used several different methods to upload files to the Web server. Although some sections of the Web site were uploaded using Dreamweaver, other sections used a browser-based system or a browser-based system in combination with FTP software. Fig Leaf determined that as the Web team and Web site content grow, the existing systems would become cumbersome and inefficient. The conversion of the Gallery’s Web publishing system was identified as a critical step in the first phase of implementation of their Web site strategic plan.
Fig Leaf worked closely with the NGA Web team to convert HTML pages to Dreamweaver templates, made recommendations and provided production assistance with directory structure, file naming, and creation of snippets and library items; assisted and mentored the Gallery Web staff with data migration, in converting select HTML pages of the www.nga.gov Web site to use Macromedia Dreamweaver Templates as the basic structure.
To further assist the NGA staff, Fig Leaf documented the new process for uploading and maintaining content and trained the NGA Web team in the use of Dreamweaver MX for publishing Web pages.
