case study

The Office of the Assistant Sergeant at Arms for Security and Emergency Preparedness provides the management structure to oversee and integrate security and emergency preparedness planning, policies and programs for the Senate. Working in close cooperation with the Secretary of the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the Capitol Police, this Office is responsible for continuity of operations training and assistance to the Senate as well as integrating Senate security plans.

The Sergeant at Arms and the Secretary of the Senate work together to build the skills and abilities of Senate staff through an education and training program. The program builds professional capabilities and enables staff members to serve the Senate better.

Fig Leaf Software has been working closely with the US Senate Sergeant at Arms Information Technology division and was instrumental in introducing the CommonSpot Content Management System to the US Senate.

Based on the success that Fig Leaf has demonstrated for other US Senate sites, the Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness selected Fig Leaf to redesign and support the office's Intranet site.  Fig Leaf kicked off the project with a creative session, carefully documenting needs for the new site.  Our Creative Director and Certified Usability Analyst oversaw the design of the new Intranet site and delivered the new design concepts to for review.

The site is easy for staff members to use, and fits well with the Senate technical infrastructure, and Fig Leaf provides ongoing maintenance and support to the organization.
