Taking on Diabetes public Web site
Solutions: content management, design/identity
Vertical: non-profit, associations

The American Association of Health Plans and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) came together in a joint initiative: Taking on Diabetes. At both the national and local levels, this joint initiative combined the knowledge and experience of the ADA with the special strengths of managed care plans to promote screening for diabetes, early intervention, and state-of-the-art treatment for the populations they serve.

AAHP contracted with Fig Leaf Software to construct a content management system for the Taking on Diabetes public Web site, which would serve as an information portal to its members and the public at large. Having already worked with AAHP to develop their main site, Fig Leaf Software was able to quickly leverage AAHP’s current content management architecture to deliver the system quickly to meet the initiative’s timeline.

The integration achieved a number of positive results, including 1) A system for content publishing using Allaire Spectra and the ColdFusion Application Server platform, which was integrated with the system developed for the main AAHP Web site ·2) The ability of registered managers to publish and edit content in the Web site from any location 3) Security integration that provides access to content depending on the user’s permission level, which allows for content delivery to specific user classifications
