Fig Leaf Training Case Study screen capture

In 1998, Fig Leaf Software was certified by Macromedia, Inc. as an Authorized Training Partner, to provide technical training in Macromedia software products. Fig Leaf identified a need to provide live online registration and course information in order to enable students to quickly and easily select and register for classes.

Fig Leaf decided to design and develop an event registration system using internal resources. The team assigned to work on the project met to determine requirements and develop a specification document for developing the system. The design team created a simple easy to navigate interface that would allow for quick access to training information through even the slowest internet connection. Fig Leaf’s programming team integrated the design with the custom code developed.

The final implementation included a robust public interface that allows students to view course outline, schedules, instructor bios, and pricing information. Students can register for a class or, if the class is full, join the wait list. Student registration captures credit card information and all necessary contact information for each registrant. The system also includes a data-driven administrative interface that allows non-technical administrators to add/edit/manage classes, students and instructors through a browser based interface. The system has been used to register more than 10,000 students and is the foundation for the WYSIRegister Event Registration System.
