The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) was founded in 1929 and is the largest military officers’ association and the fourth largest veterans’ association in the country. MOAA has 380,000 members and the organization’s primary goal is to influence national policy issues of importance to members. MOAA lobbies principally in military personnel matters, e.g., compensation, benefits, and quality of life issues.
Fig Leaf Software was hired to create a web-based tool to help caregivers with legal and financial planning. The new site design was created to tightly integrate with already set graphic standards and the Ektron Content Management System (CMS).
Fig Leaf Software first began to gather and analyze MOAA’s requirements for the new Caregiver’s website. After conducting collaborative meetings with MOAA, Fig Leaf began reviewing the information architecture on MOAA’s current site, and analyzing member feedback to help build a strategy for the new Caregiver tool.
The Tips for Lifelong Caregiving site features an “I Want to Know” section which includes access to a wealth of information for military caregivers on topics including:
- Checklist for Planning to Leave the Service
- Legal Documents checklist
- College Financing Information
- Caregivers Inventory
- TRICARE Program Information for Retirees
- Access to Lawyers for Heroes
The Elizabeth Dole Foundation which funded the program, and the Military Officers Association of America gratefully acknowledged Fig Leaf Software’s role as the web design consultant for the new site.
The new site brings together the accumulated knowledge of public and private organizations, as well as the wisdom of a nationwide network of caregivers and other subject matter experts, to provide an online guide as a legal and financial resource for heroic caregivers of all generations.
